    Jan 25, 2007 · I am now thinking I need to replace the neutral safety switch but I can't find any info on where the switch is located and what is involved with replacing it. Can anyone out there give me some advice on where the switch is located and how to bypass it. I want to bypass the switch to make sure it is the problem before buying a new switch. The other wire out of the starter button goes to the clutch switch. On the clutch switch there is the one wire from the starter, the other to the starter relay. Both switches have to be made for the starter to spin. If either switch is open (clutch released or starter button not being pushed) the circuit is open.

Got the hand guard off and had a look, there was no gap between the end of the pin and the clutch lever when it was pulled all the way in, I though easy fix I will just file it back a little as the switch mount did not allow any adjustment. Tested it with the hand guard off, all good. the switch is a safety, like the kickstand switch, so you don't accidently start in gear or something silly... there are ways to bypass it, or if you're crafty, fab something on your new lever that will hit the switch when you pull your clutch in

The dead man switch on the seat seems to be working properly in that it will allow the engine to crank with it released (open), but will not allow it to run. If depressed it will crank and run. This makes no sense to me. It's as if somehow the blade drive and clutch switch are acting as starter safety switches and as dead man switches.
